The World of Hyatt hotel loyalty program is a member favorite for its many promotions and generous elite status levels. With just over 1,000 hotels, it is notably smaller than bigger brands like Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors. To compete, Hyatt pours on the perks to earn guests’ loyalty.
Nineteen Hyatt brands participate in the World of Hyatt program, including 900-plus Hyatt-owned hotels all over the world and one brand that’s not even a hotel: the Exhale collection of fitness spas.
Plus, World of Hyatt has linked up with MGM Resorts International and Small Luxury Hotels of the World to expand the options for members to earn and redeem points and enjoy loyalty benefits. Two new brands are coming to World of Hyatt, too: Caption by Hyatt and tommie, although no details on when the first hotel will open have been announced yet.
Every World of Hyatt brand offers something distinctive to separate it from the rest.
This is a hip lifestyle brand that offers elevated service and amenities in city and resort destinations. Hyatt has been steadily growing this brand, which appeals to sophisticated travelers looking to stay in hotels that reflect their creativity and energy. In fact, Andaz means “personal style” in Hindi.
Andaz hotels vary in size and layout. For example, both Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor, among the brand’s newest big-city hotels, have ample amenities for business travelers and group functions. In Costa Rica and Mayakoba, Mexico, Andaz properties cater to high-end leisure travelers looking to relax in paradise. Andaz Delhi is located in a corporate park near the airport, offering great runway views for airplane geeks while meeting the needs of leisure and business travelers and even long-stay guests with its dedicated section of serviced apartments.
Andaz properties are known for their evening social hours, where guests can gather over complimentary refreshments and drinks, as well as a new partnership with The Society of Scent. Each hotel features a signature aroma, found throughout the property, that was handcrafted to capture the essence of the destination.
Pairing local culture with luxury indulgences, Alila is a recent addition to the World of Hyatt lineup. Most Alilas are in Asia — half of them in Indonesia. The only Alila in the U.S. at the moment is Ventana Big Sur, an Alila Resort, an all-inclusive offering with incredible California nature views. For those into glamping, this property offers the chance for guests to earn World of Hyatt points sleeping in the wilderness (although they can redeem points only for the standard accommodations, not glamping).
Joie de Vivre
These boutique hotels blend into the neighborhood with their design or history and serve up local experiences and flavors. Joie de Vivre is a relatively new addition to World of Hyatt. Members can earn and redeem their points at pet-friendly Joie de Vivre properties like Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco.
Upscale hotels with a focus on bespoke service, many Park Hyatts specialize in notable dining and spa experiences. Nearly half are located in the Asia-Pacific region, a premier destination for lavish service and hospitality. Among the most well-known properties in the brand are the iconic Park Hyatt Sydney facing the Opera House and the family-friendly Park Hyatt Beaver Creek in Colorado.
And then there’s the famous Park Hyatt Tokyo, whose New York Bar featured prominently in the movie “Lost in Translation” and has become a tourist attraction in its own right.
These are, just as their name suggests, grand hotels with an emphasis on group functions and corporate business, but they also cater to leisure travelers. Grand Hyatt properties have ample meeting space, glossy lobbies and long rosters of amenities ranging from dining to spa outlets. One of the newest additions to the portfolio is the Grand Hyatt at SFO, which is the only hotel connected to San Francisco International Airport, offering close-up views of the ramp activity and parked airplanes.
Everything at these hotels is opulent, from the restaurant options to the architecture. World of Hyatt Globalist members and those paying for premium rooms have access to Grand Clubs in the hotels that have them, serving breakfast and evening snacks. Grand Hyatt hotels without these clubs offer Globalist members breakfast in the restaurant. Other favorites in the Grand Hyatt portfolio include Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa in Hawaii and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
This is one of the hotel company’s best-known brands, and these full-service hotels include a mix of business and leisure destination properties. Almost all have a Regency Club lounge, offering top elite status guests, and those paying a premium rate, access to a private lounge space for daily food and beverage presentations.
These hotels focus strongly on the corporate traveler but have a wide range of amenities to appeal to leisure guests too. Hyatt Regency properties compete with brands like Marriott, Sheraton and Hilton. One of the newest openings is the Hyatt Regency Frisco – Dallas.
Hotels branded simply as Hyatt tend to have less meeting space than a Hyatt Regency. Hyatt Paris Madeleine — a guest favorite in the French capital — is one example. Hyatts are popular with both business and leisure travelers.
Known for their regionally inspired design and a focus on being the center of the neighborhood, Hyatt Centric hotels straddle the line between business and leisure. Some are located in financial districts, like Hyatt Centric Las Condes Santiago in Chile, while others are closer to leisure attractions like Peru’s Hyatt Centric San Isidro Lima.
Hyatt Centric properties offer special amenities like Drybar-branded hair dryers and eco-friendly toiletry products, both of which were the result of focus group testing on what younger travelers find important.
The Unbound Collection by Hyatt
These are independent, boutique-style hotels that are representative of their local environs. Unbound Collection properties are ideal for travelers who don’t want corporate-style accommodations and appreciate variety in what Hyatt calls “story-worthy” hotels. Similar to Tribute Portfolio and Kimpton, these individually designed hotels offer upscale accommodations with the reassurance of the World of Hyatt program. The Confidante Miami Beach is one of the popular hotels in the portfolio.
Known as a collection of unique, independent hotels and resorts, Destination Hotels include resorts, city hotels, residence properties and private home rentals. Golf courses and mountain retreats are also part of the portfolio, which like other boutique options within World of Hyatt aim to tell the story of a destination. Virginia’s Quirk Hotel Charlottesville is a perfect example, with its regional art gallery spaces and rooms with bespoke furnishings from local designers.
MGM Resorts International
World of Hyatt members enjoy several perks at MGM Resorts International properties including MGM Grand Las Vegas. Members can earn and redeem points, as well as earn credit toward elite status. Many MGM Resorts properties have casinos, making this partnership an exciting entertainment addition to World of Hyatt. Elite members get their tier level matched in MGM’s M life Rewards program, meaning automatic access to perks like room discounts and gaming comps.
Small Luxury Hotels of the World
This collection of boutique luxury hotels made for an exciting addition to World of Hyatt when they partnered up in 2018. Since then, hundreds of Small Luxury Hotels around the world that were previously unaffiliated with a points-earning and redemption program came into the World of Hyatt fold, including lavish waterfront properties like Villa Orsula and Hotel Excelsior in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
With hotels in the United States and all over the world, Hyatt Place offers free breakfast and wireless internet for World of Hyatt members. But these practical hotels tend to scale back on full-service amenities like restaurants. In addition to business-traveler-friendly amenities like business centers and in-room refrigerators, many have bars, swimming pools and fitness centers. They always have a 24/7 option for grabbing food or drink.
This brand is where Hyatt was born. Its first hotel dates back to 1957 with the purchase of the Hyatt House at Los Angeles International Airport. Hyatt founder Jay Pritzker believed there was a need for an airport hotel and bought the property, which would be dubbed the world’s first “fly-in” hotel, from businessman Hyatt von Dehn.
These days, Hyatt House properties are all over the world — and not only near airports. Many Hyatt House public amenities mirror those found at Hyatt Place hotels (lounges where guests can work and charge electronic devices, a bar and complimentary breakfast). And the accommodations are more spacious because they are designed for extended stays. They feature larger living areas and kitchenettes, and include studios and one- and two-bedroom suites. Hyatt House Shenzhen Airport in China was the first of the brand to open in the Asia-Pacific region.
Hyatt Residence Club
These luxury condominiums, villas and homes come with regular (although not always daily) housekeeping services and access to resort amenities like pool or beach areas. Here, World of Hyatt members are eligible to earn points and elite members earn tier bonuses.
Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara
These all-inclusive properties are in resort destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean, with Ziva being a family-friendly brand and Zilara catering to the adults-only crowd. Drinks, meals and entertainment are packaged into the rate (including World of Hyatt redemptions).
Hyatt was the first multibrand hotel company to enter the all-inclusive market, which allows travelers to earn and redeem points from a global brand for a stay. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana are the newest additions, having opened last year in the Dominican Republic.
These lifestyle-driven hotels are located in both city and resort destinations. Among the newest to join the Thompson Hotels lineup are Georgia’s Thompson Savannah and Thompson Buckhead in Atlanta, set to open in 2021. There are also four more hotels in development in Texas, which will add to the nine properties already open across the U.S. and Mexico.
Like other World of Hyatt brands, these hotels honor their location through art, design and architecture. As luxury hotels, they offer excellent dining plus nightlife opportunities that set the brand apart from other luxury hotels. For example, the rooftop bar at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico offers incredible views of El Arco in the Pacific Ocean and has a separate beer garden pergola.
With only a handful of properties, Miraval shares the same mission as World of Hyatt: well-being and mindfulness. These resorts are located in Tucson, Arizona; Austin, Texas; and the New England Berkshires, the brand’s newest opening. They focus on fitness and nutrition as part of overall well-being.
Guests can tailor their experience, putting a focus on nutrition and exercise or on spa pampering and relaxation. And they will earn World of Hyatt points for doing it. Members can also redeem their points for a free night, which comes with a $175 nightly resort credit, all meals and nonalcoholic drinks and complimentary wellness activities.
Exhale is a collection of fitness spas that participates not just as a redemption partner but as a full-fledged member of the World of Hyatt program. Members can earn and redeem points for fitness classes, spa services and yoga and meditation sessions even when they are not staying in hotels.
