If you’ve been eyeing an airline credit card, the United℠ Explorer Card has rolled out a new offer.
For a limited time, the card is increasing its potential sign-up bonus for new cardmembers, allowing you to earn up to 60,000 bonus miles after qualifying purchases.

The bonus breaks down this way:
- Earn 40,000 bonus miles after $2,000 in spending within the first 3 months from account opening.
- Earn an additional 20,000 bonus miles after spending a total of $8,000 within the first 6 months from account opening.
The card’s previous sign-up bonus did not offer the chance to earn an additional 20,000 miles.

The $8,000 threshold includes the initial $2,000 in spending — that is, you don’t need to spend $10,000 to get the total 60,000-mile bonus. But even if you miss the first threshold, and therefore miss out on the 40,000 bonus miles, you still have the opportunity to hit the second spending requirement and earn 20,000 bonus miles.
This limited-time offer will end on May 16, 2019.

The card has an annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $95. Cardholders earn 2 miles per dollar spent on purchases from United, as well as at restaurants and on eligible hotel stays, and 1 mile per dollar on all other purchases. Miles don’t expire as long as you’re a cardholder in good standing.
Cardholders receive a free checked bag for themselves and a companion on their reservation, priority boarding and two United Club passes annually.
