A Beer Company Is Giving Away a Free Trip to Belgium

The only thing better than sipping a classic Belgian wheat beer while relaxing in a European village is doing it for free. The beer company Hoegaarden, known for its smooth, citrusy beer, is making a free getaway possible for some lucky winners.

You can win free flights and accommodation to Hoegaarden, Belgium, for you and a friend through the “Hoegaarden Slowed Down Spring Break” contest. The trip comes with a $1,445 traveling stipend, too. But hurry — this contest ends April 22, 2019.

The grand prize

The winner and one guest will receive round-trip airfare, accommodation for four nights in Hoegaarden, the stipend, and a tour of the Hoegaarden brewery.

You must be available for the trip May 11-15, 2019, but other than that, there’s not much on your itinerary. According to the contest website, Hoegaarden is encouraging you to use this vacation to disconnect, meander through the cobblestone streets and explore the charming town.

Hoegaarden, about 40 minutes outside Brussels, is best known for its production of the famous Belgian wheat beer. According to the Hoegaarden company, monks in the town were the first to brew the beer in 1445 (that’s the inspiration for the amount of the stipend). At one point in the 18th century, the village of Hoegaarden had up to 36 breweries and 110 malthouses. Now, the brewery is producing its namesake beer for distribution in more than 70 countries.

How to enter

You must be a U.S. resident and 25 years old or over to enter. All you have to do is fill out the entry form on the contest website and answer the question “What’s your ideal way to spend spring break?” The entries will be judged on creativity, originality and relevance to the contest theme. Entries must be submitted by April 22, 2019.
