When one transfer bonus ends, another one begins. At least that’s the case for Capital One Venture or Spark Miles cardholders.
Capital One is running a new promotion this month that will give cardholders a 25% bonus on all miles transferred to Avianca Airlines LifeMiles. The standard transfer rate for Avianca is 2:1.5, but with the 25% bonus, the transfer rate jumps to 2:1.875. That means transferring 10,000 Capital One miles will get you about 9,375 Avianca LifeMiles. You’ll have to transfer miles by July 31, 2019, to get the bonus.
Who’s eligible for this offer?
If you carry a card that earns Capital One miles, you’re eligible to take advantage of the bonus offer. Those cards are:
You’ll also need to connect your Avianca account to your Capital One account to be able to transfer the miles.
Why transfer points?
This promotion comes on the heels of Capital One’s transfer bonus to Air France-KLM Flying Blue. Transferring miles to a specific loyalty program gives cardholders more ways to redeem their miles, in addition to using points for a statement credits toward travel purchases. Capital One miles are only worth 1 cent each when you’re redeeming them for a statement credit, but they could be worth more when you transfer, especially with a bonus.
Avianca is a Colombian airline, but transferring points doesn’t mean you have to commit to a Bogota vacation. The carrier is part of the Star Alliance, so you could redeem LifeMiles for flights on any of their partner airlines.
