Having your hotel chain’s app on your phone is one way to track your points and future reservations — and, now, to stream movies to your hotel room’s television. That’s one of the new features of the redesigned World of Hyatt app unveiled last week.

In celebration of the re-launch, World of Hyatt is offering 500 bonus points to members who book a qualifying stay through the app.

The offer details

  • Book a stay at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts, M life Rewards destinations and Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations through the app. More than 900 hotels are available to book through the app.

  • To qualify, the stay must be completed between Aug. 1, 2019 and Sept. 30, 2019.

  • Redeeming a free night award for at least one night of your stay will qualify for the promotion.

  • The bonus points should appear in your account within three to four weeks of completing your stay.

Earning 500 bonus points is just one reason to get the new World of Hyatt app, which is available on both iOS and Android. It’s an easy way to keep track of your World of Hyatt rewards and points. Especially if your point balance changes frequently because you’re earning points through the The World Of Hyatt Credit Card or transferring points from a loyalty program like Chase Ultimate Rewards®.

The app has a slew of new features, including the ability to chat in real time with hotel staff and request items during your stay. The chat capability is not yet available at all Hyatt hotels.

If you happen to stay at a  participating location, you can take advantage of a few other features. You can open guest rooms and public spaces with Mobile Entry and stream content directly onto the TV in your guest room through Chromecast. No more falling asleep with your laptop on the bed. You can use that widescreen TV to stream the Netflix shows that have you hooked.

Other features that World of Hyatt members will appreciate include the ability to skip the check-in line, especially at some of those massive hotels where the lines to get your hotel key seem as long as the lines at Disneyland on a holiday. Any charges to your room will show up in real-time, so you can track your spending through the app.

The bottom line

The changes to this app are designed to make it easier to manage your World of Hyatt experience, whether that’s booking a new stay, requesting extra towels for your room or tracking your spending. For people who want to get the most out of their rewards, this app adds visibility to their progress toward award redemptions and elite status.
