Currently, Marriott Bonvoy members have pretty limited options if they’re looking for a Sandals-type vacation where the price of food and accommodations are rolled into one. Type in “all-Inclusive” to the search bar on the Marriott Bonvoy website and you get only two resorts to choose from: a Westin in Costa Rica and a Sheraton in Panama. But that’s about to change.
Marriott has unveiled an $800 million plan to invest in more all-inclusive resorts by both building new properties and converting existing ones. These new all-inclusive resorts are expected to open between 2022 and 2025, so you have a few years to start saving up some Marriott Bonvoy points for a logistics-light vacation.

Here’s what’s in the works:
New resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico

Marriott is planning to build five new all-inclusive resorts. Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will be home to a brand new 650-room Autograph Collection resort, which is expected to open in 2022.
Meanwhile, an all-inclusive Ritz Carlton, a Westin, a Marriott and Autograph Collection resort are slated for development in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. These won’t open until 2023 or 2025. In total, the new resorts will add more than 2,000 rooms to Marriott Bonvoy’s all-inclusive portfolio.
Amenities
Each new resort will stay true to its brand as far as design and amenities go. For example, the new resort bearing the Marriott Hotels name will cater to families. You can expect amenities like kids and teens clubs and water sports.
Meanwhile, the brands aimed at adults would feature gourmet restaurants, nightclubs, adult-only pools with swim-up bars and 24-hour room service.

Earning and redeeming points
Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to earn and redeem points for stays at all-inclusive resorts, just as they do at any other participating property. How many points will it cost to stay at one of these all-inclusive resorts? Marriott’s current all-inclusive resorts start at 50,000 to 85,000 points per night.
The bottom line
Marriott Bonvoy members may not need to look outside of their program for an all-inclusive resort that fits their needs. The development of these new resorts involves several different Marriott brands, so there will be one for almost every type of occasion or spend level.
Hilton and Hyatt have already made forays into the all-inclusive space, but with Marriott’s 220-acre beachfront resort complex in the works, a worry-free vacation isn’t far behind for Marriott loyalists.
