Deserted Venice contemplates a future without tourist hordes after Covid-19

Besieged by swarms of summer visitors and overshadowed by gigantic cruise ships, Venice’s residents feared they had lost their city for good. After the virus emptied out the city’s canals and cleared its beautiful squares, they’re now contemplating a very different future.
